A schoolboy campaigning to provide children with laptops is asking the community to lend a hand.
As previously reported by the Wandsworth Times, Harry Beresford-Peirse is on a mission to hold big tech firms to account.
The 13-year-old is asking multinational companies to fix the “grossly unfair” digital divide in school children over lockdown by donating new, used or unwanted laptops.
Following his January Change.org petition - which has amassed nearly 35,000 signatures – Harry has made a breakthrough.
He has set up a staff donations scheme with the Atlas Foundation in conjunction with their tech partner Veritas Digital.
The company are calling on employees to donate to the existing Richmond Rugby Club laptop scheme, which hopes to make up the shortfall of 2000 devices in Richmond and Hounslow.
Harry has also said his petition has inspired one off donations from kind-hearted individuals.
Now, he needs to find a local delivery company to redistribute the laptops.
He’s asking Richmond volunteers to pick up the devices from tech team staff and drop them to Richmond Rugby club, where they will be wiped and given to schools.
