Dr Emily Macdonagh and her husband Peter Andre attended Epsom Hospital on Friday (January 22) to record the junior doctor receiving her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The celebrity couple both attended Emily's vaccine to highlight the process for their followers and fans and help demonstrate the safety of receiving the jab to others.

The pair filmed the experience and their video was later promoted by Epsom Hospital.

It showed Epsom Hospital staff describing their efforts of vaccinating some 2,000 people each week, with some working 12 hours shifts to do so.

The couple meanwhile mused on the vaccination experience and the subject more generally.

"We just get used to other vaccines that we have. I think people are worried about this because it is something new but you know, it's just another vaccine," Emily said.

"Not only that, it's vaccinating against something that is incredibly important to vaccinate against.

"The reason we're all in lockdown at the moment is because of coronavirus so we need to try and come together and tackle it as one. That's what the vaccine is all about," she added.

After receiving a dose of the Pfeizer-Biontech vaccine, the doctor also received her card given to everyone who receives the vaccination as confirmation, with space left for her second dose necessary for more complete protection from the virus.

Like other health professionals Macdonagh, who works in the NHS as a junior doctor, belongs to one of the key groups being vaccinated against coronavirus in the government's initial drive to immunise millions Britons against Covid-19.
