DIGNITY is expected to be restored to the White House as a "Sussex man" takes power today.

Readers of The Argus have celebrated the departure of President Donald Trump and the arrival of Joe Biden.

He will become the 46th President of the United States during his inauguration today.

With the Democrat’s great-great-great-grandfather born in Sussex, he is one of ours.

One reader said the 78-year-old "can't do worse" than outing President Donald Trump.

Karen Estelle Knight said on Facebook: "The country is already been destroyed. Give him a chance, he can’t do worse.

Reader Margaret Wrightson said Mr Biden will "bring back some sense".

Another, David Johnson said: "We’ll be getting an adult in the White House again and not an orange crybaby who only thinks about himself.

"Biden will finally get the country out of the pandemic, after Trump ignored the deaths of 400,000 Americans."

However, the President-elect wasn't free from criticism. Readers were keen to point out that he was a "weirdo" who has "trouble breathing".

Shona Bayram said on Facebook: "Do they even put reasonably normal people up for presidential candidates anymore?"

Reader Tony Warren said: " Not sure how he can be the best that America can produce, most of the time it looks as if he has trouble breathing and standing at the same time.

"Not very charismatic. Let’s hope he is better in office with his policies."

Marc Davis said: "Scumbag, he is just a puppet for what's really going on, America is over and all hell is gonna break loose."
