COLCHESTER has A LOT of supermarkets.

We've got two massive Tesco stores, three Aldi stores, an Asda, the country's biggest Sainsbury's and two, soon to be three, Lidl stores.

That is just the largest of the shops, or the superstores, there's also an abundance of smaller convenience stores in the town.

But one big brand which doesn't yet have a shop in the town is Morrisons.

The supermarket giant has long been rumoured to be looking at opening a store in the town.

It had been rumoured it was set to create a store at the Cowdray Centre before plans to build news home at the site were revealed.

Read more about that here.

There are of course Morrisons stores in north Essex, both in Little Clacton and in Harwich.

The Little Clacton store is set to be demolished and rebuilt as the brand looks to invest in its estate, so it is pushing ahead with plans for investment.

Gazette:

  • Morrisons store in Little Clacton

But there is not yet one in Colchester so those loyal to the brand have to travel more than ten miles to reach one.

At the Gazette we're often hearing from readers who want to see a store in the town.

The brand's potential arrival has to be one of the most talked about subjects in Colchester.

So we thought we would ask.

Would you like to see Morrisons open a store in Colchester?
