Residents at a Richmond care home have expressed optimism after receiving the first round of the Coronavirus vaccine.
Elderly occupants and staff at Barchester’s Lynde House, near Richmond Bridge, led the way against the fight against COVID-19 last week.
The vaccines were administered by Dr Flynn, from Hampton Wick Surgery, who visits residents at the care home regularly.
Resident John, 87, said: “I am so pleased to be given the vaccine. It will help to keep us safe".
Mary, 95, added: “I didn’t feel anything".
Residents will receive a follow-up injection at a later date, likely between 3 and 12 weeks after the first.
Jo, 87, said: “I had no after-effects and I’m looking forward to the second dose”.
Dr Flynn had already administered the vaccine to car home staff who visited the surgery before Christmas.
Care Practitioner Lindsey, who has been at Lynde House for over 5 years, said: “It gives me that little bit of extra confidence when providing care for our residents”.
General Manager, Alison McIntosh, added:
“We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Dr Flynn visits the home every week to see residents so they know him well, they felt comfortable and reassured at all times so we are so grateful for his support.”
