They could not be there in person – but residents and former residents of Maryport had a very special guided tour of the town’s Christmas lights.
In fact, they were guided by Santa himself, in his big red sleigh, with Mayor Peter Kendall aboard to enjoy the ride.
Covid put paid to this year’s lights switch-on on Saturday but Mr Kendall promised that they would be back better than ever next year.
Imagination Parties presented on-line entertainment on Saturday afternoon, ending with a Christmas quiz.
Town clerk Lisa Douglas said the sleigh ride received 9,000 hits on social media.
