Sutton Community Works will open a new food shop to help those who struggle on a low income, from December 3.

To use the shop, residents need to become registered members and pay £3 a week by direct debit, which allows them to choose up to 12 items of non-perishable, chilled, and frozen items.

Membership is for six months and residents can cancel their membership at any time.

Steve Tucker, Managing Director of Sutton Housing Partnership, said: “This year has been tough for so many of our residents who struggle to buy healthy and nutritious food and essential items on a low income, so I’m delighted that we are supporting Sutton Community Works in bringing this new community food shop to Sutton Town Centre.

“This service will be of immense value to families who join up and subscribe and will also connect them with other opportunities to improve wellbeing and future prospects for their household.”

Members can pick items up every week on Thursday and Friday mornings from 10am–12.30pm, starting from December 3.

The community food shop can be found on the ground floor of St Nicholas Shopping Centre. To register visit here.

The SNW Outlet

From Saturday, Sutton Night Watch will be selling new and high quality; preloved clothes, accessories, homeware, shoes and bags from various designers, retail outlets and small businesses.

The news comes after the homeless charity were picked as a charity partner to clothing brand Phase Eight, which helped them launch their online outlet.

Following it's success, Sutton Night Watch have been able to move their project into a 'physical shop' and are inviting everyone to their grand opening event on Saturday.

The venture will allow Sutton Night Watch to have a steady flow of income which will enable them to continue to feed those in need.

A Sutton Night Watch Director said: "The last year has felt like the Salmon run, swimming upstream, but we have now made it to our destination and the feeling to be able to generate a regular steady income for Sutton Night Watch makes all the difference.

"We have all worked hard to support as many people as we can through this unique time and fundraising for us has been challenging.

"When businesses like Phase Eight & others support us in creative ways like this, it literally can mean the difference between surviving & thriving for us & in turn for our service users.

"Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has donated items for the website & shop.

"We are extremely excited by the upcoming grand opening."
