A café lounge in Sutton has praised the community for it's contribution to help end hunger over the school holidays.

Tiempo Lounge, located on 73 High Street, decided to take part in the 'Pay it Forward' scheme this half term.

On Sunday (October 25), staff members set up a board which allows customers to pay in advance for a free meal for a child.

By Monday, staff at the Tiempo Lounge were excited to see that the board was already full with donations.

Your Local Guardian:

"Due to the amazing response, we have decided to extend the scheme for few weeks," Assistant manager Gergana told Sutton Guardian.

She added: "Our lounge has been a part of the community on the high street for nearly a year, and by joining this amazing cause we can help to give back to those who deserve it.

"People do not have to think about where their next meal is coming from, all thanks to the amazing customers and their charity.

"We have had an overwhelming response that our team has been overjoyed with, and the generosity is only growing.

"It’s so important to support and give to those who are in serious need and we’re glad that we are able to do so with the ‘Pay it Forward’ scheme.

Your Local Guardian:

"Our team moto is 'no child should ever go hungry' and we would love to get more people to come and benefit from the scheme.

"We currently have about 80 meals available, and unfortunately we only had around 8 to 10 redeemed.

"There is no shame in asking for help- everybody needs support at times and we are more than happy to be here for anyone that may need it."
