Singlegate Primary School has confirmed a positive case of coronavirus.

Parents were informed about the case in an email sent at 8 am this morning ( October 19 ).

Wimbledon Times, saw the email which was sent to parents of children who haven't been in contact with the infected person.

It stated: "We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and are following the national guidance.

"This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child.

"Please be reassured that for most people, the coronavirus will be a mild illness.

"Your child’s class remains open, because your child’s year group has not been in contact with the confirmed case and providing your child remains well they can continue to attend school as usual."

In response, a Year 1 parent said: "When we were told, I was very worried and anxious for my daughter.

"I have to keep her home and keep checking her for symptoms.

"I think the school are trying their best and are trying to keep us calm but some parents think it is being downplayed."

Singlegate Primary School declined the offer to comment this morning.
