Two men were arrested and a suspected gun was seized after a firearm was reportedly seen on the Benhill Estate in Sutton today (Saturday, October 10).
Reports on social media described a significant police presence on the Sutton housing estate early on Saturday afternoon as police responded to the potential presence of a gun in the area.
A statement was later tweeted out by a member of the Metropolitan Police's press team via the Sutton MPS Twitter account.
In it, police confirmed their presence at the Benhill Estate and revealed they had arrested two men in connection to the incident.
Police were called at around 1320hrs on 10 October to a report of a firearm seen in the Benhill Estate #Sutton. Officers responded and arrested two males. A suspected air rifle has been recovered. Enquiries continue.

They added that a "suspected air rifle has been recovered," as part of their operation, with police inquiries ongoing at present.
