A ROAD is blocked after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

There are delays on the A270 Old Shoreham Road as a result of the collision, which happened at about 2.30pm.

An AA spokesman said: "There are reports the road is partially blocked and there is slow traffic due to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A270 Old Shoreham Road at Silverdale Road."

The Argus:

Witnesses at the scene have reported that the crash happened nearer to the junction between the A270 and The Upper Drive.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Old Shoreham Road, Hove, shortly before 2.30pm.

"The pedestrian, a woman, suffered minor injuries."

By 4.30pm, the site of the crash was reported to have been cleared.

But the AA continued to warn of "very slow traffic" in the area as a result of construction work.

The spokesman said: "There is very slow traffic on the A270 Old Shoreham Road both ways between Holmes Avenue and the B2185 The Drive.

"Restrictions are in place for the construction of cycle lanes, affecting traffic passing Hove Green."
