POLICE have warned they will punish Covid-19 guideline-breakers in a message to the public.
The announcement comes after new laws for the wearing of face masks, a 10pm curfew for bars, pubs and restaurants, and further guidance to the “rule of six” were introduced in the ongoing efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
“Those who continue to choose to flout the rules and put other people’s lives at risk will face enforcement action,” temporary assistant chief constable Jayne Dando said.
“Over the last month, we have issued three fixed penalty notices for those who were non-compliant with wearing a face mask when on public transport and two people were issued a fine for failing to comply with self-isolation regulations.”
The force said the “vast majority” have been sticking to the rules to combat the national health crisis but there are still those prepared to flout the rules.
“Covid-19 is not going away and we all have our part to play in suppressing the virus,” the force said.
If people are aware of a serious and current breach of the government’s coronavirus regulations, you can report it on Sussex Police’s website.
