Gareth Ainsworth has admitted that the club’s new signings have fitted in well with the group.

The Chairboys have been busy so far this summer by signing seven players on permanent deals, as they prepare for life in the Championship for the first time.

And the gaffer admitted that ‘one or two more signings’ could be unveiled at Adams Park before the transfer window shuts.

Wycombe have already signed Uche Ikpeazu from Hearts, Giles Phillips from QPR, Jason McCarthy from Millwall, Curtis Anderson from Charlotte Independence, Daryl Horgan from Hibs, Ryan Tafazolli from Hull and David Stockdale from Birmingham.

He said: “It is like a drip of water going into a bowl of water – they seamlessly go in.

“You’ve got players like Adebayo Akinfenwa, Matt Bloomfield and Joe Jacobson - I’ll bring in a new signing, they’ll stop what they are doing and shake their hands.

“We’ve all been in that place where you’ve gone in somewhere new and if we’ve got someone new, I always tell the players go over, say hello and talk to them – make them comfortable and make them part of the group.

“We also do a lot of character checks.

“Daryl Horgan and Ryan Tafazolli are great guys, Stockdale is Stockdale as he fits in our culture like you wouldn’t believe.

“Uche Ikpeazu has been on our radar for so long he knows a lot about the club.

"The new signings know what is it like to be a Wycombe player, and I think you’ll see that this season.”

For the up-and-coming season, Ikpeazu will wear the number nine shirt, Horgan will wear number 17, Tafazolli will have number six, McCarthy 26 and Phillips will have number 16.

Stockdale and Anderson’s squad numbers have yet to be announced.

Ainsworth continued: “We will have one or two that won’t even be in the [squad of] 18 so it will be a test of my man management and that will be tough, but if you do it right and well, the boys will respect you and if they don’t then they’re not the boys I thought they were.”
