Crystal Palace's Argentine goalkeeper Julian Speroni has slammed claims that there are communication problems between the back-four and himself.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper has been in sparkling form of late which has coincided with Palace's return to form under new chief Neil Warnock.

But his new found lease of life has not stopped his doubters suggest that the language barrier between the defence and himself can leave the Selhurst Park side in the occasional sticky situation.

However, Speroni has hit back at those claims by insisting he is more than capable of commanding the Eagles rearguard.

Speroni said: "Some people say communication is a problem because I'm Argentine - but I've been in the UK for six years and I don't have any communication problems.

"Football is very simple.

"I don't know why people say that because we understand each other perfectly on the pitch and in the dressing room."

Speroni also found time to pay tribute to departed goalkeeping coach Tony Burns, who left the club this month, but insisted he will work just as hard for new man Jim Stannard.

"Jim came in last week and we've been very working hard.

"It was sad to lose Tony Burns because we worked well with him.

During last season when I wasn't playing regular football, Tony was the one who kept me going which was very important.

"But I can't go to sleep because Scott is training very well and has great desire and is a great keeper.

"I have to stay on my toes."
