A "large fight" in Byfleet led to several people being hospitalised, Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) caused and at least two men arrested after it broke out on Friday (August 7).

Police arrested two middle-aged men in the wake of the fight, which erupted somewhere along a stretch of High Road in Byfleet shortly before 10.50pm on Friday.

Several people suffering various injuries were rushed to hospital in the wake of the fight, police said, prompting a police investigation.

Appealing for information from members of the public to help with their inquiries, Surrey Police described the aftermath of the fight:

"Officers were called to High Road, Byfleet, shortly before 22:50 hours following reports of a large fight involving multiple people. On arrival, officers found several persons at the scene with injuries who were taken to separate hospitals for treatment," a spokesperson for Surrey Police said.

"A 41-year-old man and a 32-year-old man have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

"Both have since been released on police bail and enquiries continue," they added.
