A MAN accused of killing a woman and dumping her body in a wheelie bin faces trial next month.

Several high-profile murder cases in Sussex have been postponed over the past few months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

That includes the investigation into the death of Nicola Stevenson, who was found dead in Lewes in November last year.

The mother-of-three had been missing for almost a month from her home in Stansfield Road.

Richard Canlin has been accused of her murder.

Previously he was told his trial was delayed because the Crown Courts at Lewes, Hove, and Brighton could not safely host jury trials under social distancing rules.

But it is understood that trials in Sussex are now set to resume from the end of August.

Canlin, 41, of no fixed address, denies the charge.

At Hove Crown Court, barristers Caroline Carberry QC for the prosecution and Andrew Horsell for the defence attended a virtual hearing before Judge Shani Barnes.

A new trial date was set for September 28.
