Award-winning heritage project, Carshalton Lavender, is reopening its fields for a community harvest this weekend.

Carshalton's 21st Pick Your Own Mini Harvests event will take place at the three-acre Carshalton Lavender field, which is part of the Stanley Road Allotment site behind Oaks Way Centre.

The event will take place on August 9 and August 16 between the hours of 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

As well as picking your own lavender, the event will offer a variety of products, including; Carshalton Lavender essential oil, floral water, lavender crafts, lavender plants and handmade skincare.

Your Local Guardian:

A spokesperson for Carshalton Lavender project said: "The project aims to revive and maintain the heritage of Carshalton lavender for future generations.

"The lavender plants grown on the field are all from cuttings taken from the lavender originally grown in the area.

"This is a unique feature of our field.

"I believe we are the only South London Community project that invites people to come and pick their own lavender.

"For a little while, you can escape the pandemic and pretend you are in the Provence enjoying the blue lavender and the buzz of bees, its beautiful. "

The project is run solely by volunteers, and proceeds from this harvest event keep the project running from year to year.

To maintain social distancing, lavender tickets will be on sale for one hour sessions only.

Adults £5 and up to two children under 18 are free.

The entry fee includes a beautiful 'bunch' of lavender.
