After months of home workouts, exercising in the park and waiting on online orders of gym equipment to arrive - Sutton has announced all four leisure centres will reopen tomorrow.

On March 20, Boris Johnson announced that gyms would be closed until further notice which saw gym-goers turn to other avenues to get their fitness fix.

But now, gyms will be reopening with a series of measures which have been carefully put together by Sutton Council and their partners, Everyone Active.

Cheam Leisure Centre, David Weir, Phoenix and Westcroft will be opening their doors on Saturday, July 25.

Those using the leisure centres will be required to book sessions in advance, arrive already wearing exercise clothes and to adhere to guidelines regarding the use of masks and cleanliness where instructed to do so.

Lead member for Culture and Leisure, Councillor Steve Cook said: “I am pleased to see our leisure centres reopening to the public, as this will be a big boost to those looking to exercise safely in a secure, familiar setting.

“I want to reassure residents that the strictest measures are in place to ensure the centres are clean and safe to be used.

"The Council has worked closely with Everyone Active to make sure all centres are compliant with the latest government advice.”
