Crystal Palace hotshot Clinton Morrison insists he must show chief Neil Warnock and the Eagles fans that he is worthy of a new Selhurst Park deal.

The striker scored his 101st and 102nd goals for Palace in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Colchester United to mark the livewire forward's return to form.

But with Morrison's contract up at the end of the season - the 29-year-old's Selhurst Park future is uncertain.

There will surely be no shortage of takers for Morrison, who would be eligible to leave on a free next summer, particularly if he continues in his current rich vein of form.

But, while suggesting staying at SE25 would be his preferred option, the Tooting-born hitman says earning a new Eagles contract is not a cause for concern at the moment - and insists impressing the backroom staff and fans is at the forefront of his mind.

When asked about his contract situation, Morrison said: "I've only just got back into the team and that will take care of itself.

"I think there will be four or five coming in and a few going so you've just got to carry on and hope to be one of the ones that stay.

"I've got to prove myself to the fans because there are some that probably don't think I should be playing and I've got to prove to the manager that I should be in the starting 11 week in and week out."
