VILLAGERS crafted and came together to create an impressive scarecrow trail during lockdown.

Several residents in Cheapside, Ascot decided to create a scarecrow trail based on their favourite films.

A total of 15 scarecrows built from various movies like Top Gun, Despicable Me, The Blues Brothers.

They were erected outside people's homes in a bid to entertain the community and passersby.

Hannah Cross, a resident who took part in the Cheapside Scarecrow Trail said it was set up to 'bring the local community together'.

She said: "A map with clues as to what movie each scarecrow featured in was issued so that young and old could walk around and spot the scarecrows.

"There was a constant stream of people walking around the village enjoying the scarecrows and with comments such as 'this has been a true community event' to 'these scarecrows have put a real smile on my face as I take my daily walk, it is fabulous the effort which has gone into making these scarecrows - I cant wait to see them next year'.

"In what has been a tough few months this event has certainly put a smile on the faces of all Cheapsiders."
