Charities, community groups, clubs and sports teams in Battersea, Clapham and Putney affected by the Covid-19 outbreak are being helped in their recovery through a £10,000 community fund.

Decorating, hardware and DIY brand Leyland SDM, which has 23 stores on high streets, has launched its ‘Give London a Lift’ campaign.

Each month between July and October, the business will give away two prizes of £1,000 worth of Leyland SDM credit for groups to use on a project.

Organisations can apply online each month, by detailing why they would by worthy recipients of the £1,000. The winners will be chosen by a team of judges.

Leyland SDM has branches on Battersea Park Road, Clapham High Street and Upper Richmond Road in Putney.

Paul Gerreli, Marketing Director at Leyland SDM, said: “Like the rest of London, Battersea, Clapham and Putney have been deeply affected by the Covid-19 outbreak and charities and groups which support the community will be trying to pick up the pieces for their organisations over the coming weeks and months.

“Leyland SDM is a big part of communities across London and it’s the only area in which we operate. We want to help groups get back on their feet and are delighted to have 10 lots of £1,000 worth of credit to give to deserving community projects.

“With everything from paint to tools and electrical wiring to plumbing parts available from our stores, that will go a long way towards assisting with much-needed renovation projects.”

Groups can apply for prizes to help them open new premises, recover an existing building from a state of disrepair or any other project which benefits the community.

Applications can be made on the Leyland SDM website - leylandsdm.co.uk/givelondonalift – by providing a 200-word overview of what the organisation does, how it benefits the community and how the £1,000 credit would be spent.
