RESIDENTS of Whitchurch have been asked to pay their respects to former town councillor Terry O'Neill, who passed away last month.

The funeral for Cllr O'Neill will take place on Friday, July 17 at 2.30pm at Wrexham Crematorium.

Because of Covid-19 measures there are limited spaces for attendance at the funeral and Terry's daughters have inviting people who knew Terry well.

Cllr Bev Duffy will represent Whitchurch Town Council at Cllr O'Neill's funeral, in her capacity as Mayor.

The hearse carrying Cllr O'Neill's coffin will drive along Green End and up High Street, passing the Civic Centre at 1.45pm on Friday to allow people to pay their respects.

People who knew Cllr O'Neill are asked to line the streets of the town to give him a good send off.

Plans are also being put in place to install a memorial bench for Cllr O'Neill in Jubilee Park, as council clerk Nicola Young explains.

"Terry's daughters are also making a collection to buy a memorial bench for him to be engraved and placed in Jubilee Park," said Ms Young.

"One daughter is the administrator and she is collecting the money and organising the memorial bench.

"If you would like to make a donation towards the purchase of a memorial bench with engraving for Terry O'Neill, please contact his daughter via email nikki.gascoyne@yahoo.com"
