A 32-year-old has been praised for her generosity after delivering care boxes to staff at The Royal Marsden.

Jessica Young, of Carshalton, decided to create care boxes to show her appreciation to the wards which have helped her with her treatment.

In November 2017, Jessica was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukaemia just days before her 30th birthday.

The care boxes include toiletries and treats such as; shower gel, soap, cream, face masks, biscuits and tea bags.

Jessica has also created children boxes which include; hundreds of treats, plastic cups, craft materials, books, puzzles, nail varnish, teddies, bubbles and much more.

Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Jessica Young said: "When I was diagnosed, I spent six weeks in the Royal Marsden for the induction phase of my treatment.

"I have had many blips along the way including Sepsis three times.

"I decided to create the boxes due to the virus and how much work the staff do- I have seen how exhausted hospital staff look on the news.

"I decided to do one for children, as I find it hard going through my treatment, so I don’t know how the children manage to do it."

"The Royal Marsden are basically saving my life, so this is the least I can do for them."

In a letter addressed to Jessica, The Royal Marsden said: "As you know throughout the pandemic, frontline staff have been working tirelessly to care for vulnerable cancer patients.

"They have been so touched by the support and care packages during this difficult time.

"On behalf of all the team at The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and the patients and staff, thank you again for your kindness and support."

Jessica plans to deliver more boxes over the coming weeks.
