Authorities are searching for a man who reportedly entered the water of the River Thames near Sunbury Locks last night (Tuesday June 16).

Surrey Police who are assisting in the investigation said that the man was on a boat near Sunbury Locks prior to entering the water.

The incident happened "shortly before 7pm" on Tuesday evening.

"The 30 year-old man had been on a boat close to River walk at Sunbury Lock on the southern side of the river when he entered the water.

"Surrey Search and Rescue and specialist dive teams have been assisting the search, which has re-commenced this morning.

"The man was last seen wearing a green and black camouflage t-shirt, grey shorts, and green Nike trainers," a police statement read.

The authorities also offered a description of the missing man, who is described as:

  • White,
  • 5ft 8ins tall.
  • Slim build.
  • Bald.
  • He has a tattoo on his neck and wrist
