Tooting and Mitcham football club have been praised for their ongoing work to ensure their club remains inclusive and open.

In June 2018, Ashley Bosah and Cornelius Nwadialor were appointed joint managers of the Tooting & Mitcham United Football Club first team.

The duo has continuously made sure that the club puts an equal amount of focus on developing both the social and physiological side of the young players at the club.

The club has worked undeniably hard to ensure diversity can be seen across race, cultural backgrounds and the LGBTQ+ community.

Tooting and Mitcham United FC say it is uncommon to see diverse groups in the sport and Non-League football.

Racial diversity is mirrored in their; playing staff of the club's first team, under 23s side, academy programme and within the 10 plus youths sides that play in the clubs Black and White colours.

Another cause that the club has thrown its full support behind, has been 'Football v Homophobia.'

The organisation celebrates the contribution that LGBTQ+ players and fans have made to the sport.

Whilst encouraging football clubs at all levels to ensure LGBTQ+ fans and players feel welcome and safe.

The club is proud of the support that its management duo, playing staff and fans put behind Football v Homophobia and continue to fight against any form of Football v Homophobia.

As well as, to continue to fight against any form of homophobia or transphobia in football and their local communities.

Director of Tooting and Mitcham Community Sports Club, Jackie Watkins, said: “Without spaces like ours, it is possible, Ashley and Cornelius’ careers could have been unfairly held up.

"Both of our joint managers have earned their spots.

"It is hoped that others, particularly the young men they work with, will draw comfort from seeing them in their role at the club.

“Excelling, without being burdened by any need to explain their background.”
