Detectives have released an appeal to identify a male involved in a robbery on a bus.

A man was robbed after he boarded a route 403 bus near West Croydon Bus Garage for Warlingham.

Police were called to reports of a stolen phone, on the lower deck of the bus, at around 11.55 am.

The bus pulled into Mayfield Road bus stop close to the junction with Brambledown Road, when the suspect approached the victim from behind.

The suspect took hold of the victims Huawai 20 Mate Pro and the victim fell onto the floor as he tried to hold onto his phone.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The victim took a seat on the driver’s side next to the window, in front of the buggy/disabled area.

"The suspect approached the victim and took hold of his phone.

"In fear of his safety, he let go of his phone and the suspect ran out of the exit door towards Brambledown Road.

"The suspect is described as between 27 and 35 years old, 5ft 8ins tall and of medium build.

"He was wearing all dark clothing, including a dark hooded jacket and a dark baseball cap.

"Anyone who recognises him or has any information is urged to contact the police."
