Sutton Women's Centre has launched a fundraiser in a bid to expand its space for survivors of domestic abuse.
The centre which offers a range of services- aims to improve the life chances of Sutton women.
By extending their space, the centre will be able to provide an improved foodbank for those waiting for universal credit.
As well as; offer more counselling services, provide computer classes, employment help and language classes for those struggling with their English.
One of the key areas the centre specialises in is domestic abuse support - with their ‘Freedom Programme’ helping more than 950 women.
Over 200 women a week access the centre’s services, with around 140 women accessing their domestic abuse services.
Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Sutton Women's Centre, said: "Our proposed extension will help us to start more ‘new beginnings’ together with more women in our borough and to put them on a path towards a brighter future.
We’re well aware that building work doesn’t come cheap and the extension is predicted to cost in the region of £60k- so we are reaching out to you, our community, to ask for help.
"The world is a better place when we help and support each other and there are many women in Sutton who really could do with that support right now."
