Officers from the Met Police in Kingston said they arrested a man suspected of robbing a home in the area after the occupant found him asleep on their sofa.
Dubbing the man "World's Worst Burglar", a spokesperson for the borough police force's Emergency Response Team (ERTA) posted to Twitter with an account of the bizarre incident.
They said a man had been arrested after a resident found him asleep on their sofa in the middle of the night (Saturday June 6-Sunday June 7).
A search revealed he had pocketed the occupant's property including a purse and bank cards.
