A TIP-OFF from neighbours led police to find a cannabis factory in a town centre property.

Police raided the address in Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, on Saturday last week. They found 87 mature plants in three rooms inside, and also 77 immature plants in the loft.

Following the raid Inspector Rachel Barrow said: “This is another example of the work going on to make Eastbourne a hostile and unwelcome place for people looking to grow, sell and distribute drugs.”

“This criminality will not be tolerated and we will continue to take action, listening to the information fed to us through our communities and using our own police intelligence to identify those responsible.”

A man aged 24 and a woman aged 19 were arrested on suspicion of producing class B drugs.

They were bailed until June 19.
