Surrey Police are appealing for help in the search for an Esher man who has been missing since last Monday (May 18).

In a public appeal released Friday (May 22), a spokesperson for the county police force said Anthony ‘Tony’ Richards was last seen at home on May 18 at 8.30pm.

He is "well known in the area as he used to live on a bench by Molesey Lock and many would stop to talk and play a game of chess."

"Recently settled into a new flat, this is very out of character for him," the police statement added, offering details about Tony's appearance:

"Tony is described as white, 6’2” tall, of slim build with brown hair and a large beard.

"He was last seen wearing a black long sleeved top, faded black trousers, a dark hat and carrying a grey camping style backpack."
