Two police officers have been praised for their professionalism after receiving injuries whilst trying to help someone suffering from severe mental health.
Officers received injuries including a black eye after being punched by the person they were trying to help.
A spokesperson for the police said: "It saddens us to report that two officers have been assaulted today.
"Our probationer officers with there experienced tutors responded to a call.
"Our officers showed courage and professionalism at a very challenging incident."
The incident has been reviewed by Chief Inspector Mooney who has thanked the officers for their hard work and courage at the scene.
