Wallington Animal Rescue is in desperate need of donations due to the increase in rescue numbers during the outbreak.

Since the outbreak, the rescue service has seen an increase in the requirement of their services, with referrals from social services, the Metropolitan Police as well as, members of the public.

On top of the drastic increase, the rescue service has had to try and survive without the funding of their usual fundraising events, and have further been told they are not to receive government funding.

The animal service is looking after a higher number of animals due to social distancing guidelines preventing them from conducting their usual home checks.

Wallington Animal Rescue is now asking for support to help cover costs such as; vet bills, food, litter and transport.

Neil Blackwell and Amanda Blackwell who run the rescue said: "We aim to meet the ever-increasing need in our community to rescue, foster and rehome unwanted, homeless, neglected, and abused animals.

"We strive to reduce the population of homeless and unwanted animals through promoting and supporting spay/neutering programmes.

"Unfortunately the demands on the rescue and the number of animals we are asked to support are ever-increasing.

"We are very grateful to the individuals, rescues and businesses which support, donate and fundraise tirelessly to provide much-needed funds.

"This year we have been unable to fundraise within the community due to the current situation.

"We are entirely self-funding and rely on the generosity of the local community to support our work.

"We are looking to our community to help with support."
