A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian in his 30s was killed in a South Norwood crash.
Police were called this morning (April 14) to Portland Road at around 7.30am to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and black BMW car.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Upon arrival, officers and colleagues from London Ambulance Service attended to a man in his 30s with severe injuries.
"Despite best efforts of medics from LAS, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"His next of kin have been informed.
"The BMW had left the scene prior to officer’s arrival and was located a short distance away within an hour of the collision."
A man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody at a south London police station.
