Fire services were called to two separate grass blazes in Orpington within an hour yesterday.

Six hundred metres square of grass and woodland were alight on Waldens Road, requiring four engines and around 25 firefighters.

Services were on the scene at 2.46pm and were able to bring to blaze under control by 4.15pm.

Crews from Orpington and Sidcup fire stations attended, along with support from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

Two miles away, a green area on Park Avenue was also on fire.

Four engines and around 25 firefighters were called shortly before 3pm.

A timber tree house was destroyed by the blaze, along with one half hectare of trees and shrubs. There were no reports of any injuries.

Crews from Orpington, Bromley and Biggin Hill were able to bring the fire under control by 4pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
