A postman who goes by the name of MC Reen has released a song to encourage people to stay strong during the coronavirus outbreak.

Omar Alladin-Ghefur, 33, from Worcester Park, was encouraged by his two daughters to record the song in a bid to lift spirits during the crisis.

Omar, who used to MC at parties, says he wanted to give back to the community after two residents gave him a bottle of prosecco and £5 whilst he was delivering post at work.

His video emphasises on the importance of key workers and volunteers who are helping the vulnerable during the outbreak.

The video also comes after Omar was left increasingly worried about those who are alone, after the lockdown prevented him from seeing his 73-year-old mother on her birthday, last week.

Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Omar said: "It is so vital and important that we keep spirits up during this horrible outbreak because there are people out there alone.

"It is really important that we are all doing our bit to help the community.

"I ask several elderly people on my round if they need anything, I am more than happy to help.

"As a postal worker, I see a lot of things going on when I am on my rounds, such as people not practising the two-metre rule.

"I wanted to write about that.

"And to say thank you to key workers as they are important as ever right now.

"I wanted to send a message out to let everyone know that we are all in this together.

"And if we all work together we can get rid of this virus sooner rather than prolonging it."
