KERRY Katona has said fake information on coronavirus "scared the s***" out of her after her daughter displayed symptoms.

The former Atomic Kitten singer revealed her eldest child, 18-year-old Molly McFadden, had shown signs of the virus.

She said it had been a "really scary time" as she struggled to find reliable advice on the virus.

The 39-year-old, who lives in Crowborough, shared a social media post, which was later branded as false, claiming that "if your child gets this virus they're going to the hospital alone in a van to a room they don't know to be with people they don't know".

After reading this, she said the current coronavirus had sent her anxiety "through the roof".

But television presenter Dr Ranj Singh was quick to set the record straight, sending Kerry the correct information.

He sent her a statement which read: "In order to keep you, your family and others safe, if your child has to go to hospital because of suspected coronavirus:

  • "You will not routinely be separated from your childr (unless you need admission, in which case parents or carers would usually stay in a separate adult ward).
  • "You and you child may have to be put in a special isolation area.
  • "You may be advised to use extra precautions to reduce the risk of spread (such as special gowns and masks).
  • "The number of parents or carers allowed with the child may have to be limited."

Kerry said: "(I have) just been sent this, which has the correct information on, which makes me and I’m sure many others (feel) so much better.

"Being a mother of five and my eldest having the symptoms it’s been really scary. Stay safe people and stay home."
