The Richard Challoner School in New Malden has closed over fears a student came into contact with the Covid-19 coronavirus.
In a letter sent to parents, Headmaster Sean Maher told parents the school would close “for the rest of the week” for a deep clean.
The closure was decided on after a pupil at the school “was displaying symptoms of Covid-19” and was found to have previously been in contact with someone who had tested positive for the virus.
A deep clean of the school was subsequently ordered before ahead of it reopening at a later date.
The school’s website confirmed yesterday (March 11) that “the school will be closed for the remainder of the week” under the header ‘Coronavirus Update’.
The school previously cancelled a ski-trip to Italy amid fears of the prevalence of Covid-19 in the region.
