A 63-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of bomb hoaxes across the Sutton and Epsom area.

Detectives arrested the man today (February 24) in connection with six reported incidents in Wallington, Sutton, Banstead, and Epsom.

The incidents were as follows:

On Sunday, 16 February at approximately 11.46am, Met Police were called to Wallington Asda in Beddington Lane.

On Monday, 17 February at approximately 1.48pm, Met Police were called to Wallington Asda a second time.

On Friday, 21 February at approximately 11.30am, Surrey Police were called to Banstead Waitrose in the High Street.

On Friday, 21 February at approximately 11am, Surrey Police were called to a shop in Sutton High Street.

On Friday, 21 February at approximately 4.30pm, Surrey Police were called to Epsom Sainsbury's in Kiln Lane.

On Saturday, 22 February, at approximately 4.20pm, Met Police were called to a shop in Valley Retail Park, Croydon.

Following the threats, the stores were evacuated, officers attended and searched as a precaution. Every incident was stood down.

The man remains in police custody. The investigation continues.
