A lorry driver has died following a crash in Banstead on Monday (February 17).

Emergency services crews including paramedics and police rushed to attend the scene of the collision on Brighton Road in Banstead around 10am on Monday morning.

However the driver of a lorry involved in the crash was pronounced dead soon after.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police confirmed the details on Tuesday:

"We were called to Brighton Road just before 10am following a collision involving a lorry, causing the road to be closed in both directions.

"The lorry driver was treated at the scene but sadly pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of the emergency services.

"Brighton Road has reopened in both directions."

Police are now investigating the incident and made an appeal for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
