Three amber flood warnings have been issued across Richmond which are expected to affect areas along the River Thames at the start or rush hour.

Levels on the River Thames are expected to be high as a result of spring tides.

The first forecast high tide in Richmond will be 4.78 mAOD at 04:30pm and again at 5.00 mAOD from 5pm.

This means that there will be flooding of low-lying roads and footpaths, although conditions may exist for one to two hours either side of high tide.

Forecasters have predicted that there is a possibility of flooding for

  • Thames Bank in Mortlake
  • Ranelagh Drive
  • Friars Lane and Water Lane
  • Riverside and The Embankment in Twickenham
  • Towpath below Teddington Lock

The third flood warning is expected to be between 5:15pm and 5:25pm and will reach:

  • Hampton
  • Thames Ditton
  • Teddington

Although flooding to property has not been predicted residents are asked to be prepared by ensuring that they have any medication and insurance documents with them.

The Flood Information Service will be monitoring the situation closely and have its incident response staff in the area to check defences.

There is also a possibility that the Thames Barrier may close this afternoon.
