A Richmond resident has launched a home accessories company from his kitchen table in a bid to support the LGBTQ+ community.

28-Year-old Declan Cooney - a Market Research employee, created The Nice Camp - a company that specialises in selling soy wax candles.

His company also donates 15 per cent of profits made to charity.

Dec, 28, says: “My fiancé and I have a great place to live here in Kew – we really feel at home.

"We were having a brilliant time planning our wedding, but it’s hard not to think about the LGBTQ+ people all over the world who perhaps aren’t as lucky.

“The Nice Camp sells modern, colourful, quality home accessories designed to make any living space that little bit more comfortable.

"It’s also really important to me that everything is responsibly produced and environmentally friendly; there’s really no point robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Mr Cooney also believes that Kew inspired him to launch his business because of the growing number of small independent businesses that have started in Richmond.

The Nice Camp will be selling at Kew Fete 2020, due to take place on June 20th along Kew Green.
