What does a Hackbridge songwriter and a Eurovision legend have in common? They are both working together on a charity single to help people living with cancer.

Tony Power will be releasing his brand new song 'Your World is Now Waiting' in time for this year's upcoming competition to be held in Rotterdam.

Joining the Hackbridge man is the first ever artist chosen by telephone vote to sing the UK's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, Scott Fitzgerald.

Mr Fitzgerald was pipped at the post in the 1988 contest in Dublin, in what was the closest fought Eurovision Song Contest in the history of the event as he lost by a single point to Celine Dion.

Mr Power, who owns music label Powerworld Music is glad that the Scottish singer has jumped on board the cause.

"He has put the disappointment of his Eurovision long behind him now and Scott and I are teaming up to release his first single for many years," Mr Power said

"All proceeds from the sale of the single will go to a registered charity that supports people living with cancer called Cancer Is A Drag."

The Hackbridge man added that the charity supports victims by helping them face the problems they experience going through their journeys with cancer

"Providing them with funding for travel costs to and from treatment centres and with other practical help, which many people can not get from other services," he said.

"We are looking to release the single on May 6, which is Eurovision week and all funds raised from the sale of the single will go to the charity."

The song will be available on CD, from the charity's website, and on all leading digital download platforms.
