JON Flynn waved goodbye to 2019 by running cumulatively a mile a day for Trinity Winchester to support those who are homeless with limited food and shelter.

For the 25 days of Christmas, Jon ran one mile on December 1, two miles on December 2, three miles on December 3 and so on until he ran 25 miles on Christmas Day. That made an impressive total of 325 miles over the course of the whole challenge.

Jon Flynn said: “Running 24 miles on Christmas Eve and 25 miles on Christmas Day was tough, but I’m so glad I pushed myself!”

Trinity is a charity, based at Durngate, providing support to homeless and vulnerable people in Winchester and the surrounding area. The charity operates a day centre, offering practical and emotional support, to get people out of homelessness and ready to move onto independent living and into employment.

Sue Mckenna, chief executive of Trinity, said: “We are completely blown away by the effort and commitment Jon has put into this fantastic fundraising challenge over the Christmas period, and would sincerely like to thank him, his family and all his supporters for their generous donations and support.

If you would like to take part in a fundraising activity for Trinity, you can sign up to take part in one of the charities fundraisers such as Trinity’s Firewalk on Friday February 28 and Trinity Big Sleep Out on Friday May 15.

Or alternatively you can organise you own fundraising to support Trinity.

It has plans to build bedsits at the back of its Durngate base for homeless people.
