A kickboxing group in Woolwich are in 'desperate need of donations' to continue funding a much-loved community initiative.

No Limits Active8 Community holds free kickboxing classes at Woolwich community centre to help keep young people off the streets and out of trouble.

Qualified coaches Scott Yuill and Trevor Clarke volunteer to hold the classes in their spare time.

In the past year, they've seen their classes have a successful intake of over 300 people of all ages.

Back in November 2018, the coaches were offered the hall space for a year free of charge.

But now, a year later, the classes are at risk, with costs between £13 to £20 now applying to the hall hire.

Coach Scott Yuill said: “We started a JustGiving page to try to cover the costs of the hall because we firmly believe in the benefits of our classes.

“A lot of these people can't afford to pay and to have these classes stop would definitely have an impact on them and their social health."

The money raised will also go towards new training equipment and potentially allow the team to branch out to other areas.

There are currently six other coaches who help with teaching.

The page has raised £60 out of the targeted £4,200 at the time of publishing.

A supporter on their donation page said, “You guys do so much for our local kids some who wouldn’t have much to look forward to without your classes.”
