A Greenwich man is pleading for help in finding his dog after he was mugged from behind outside his own house, leaving him in a pool of blood.

Ex-councillor Paul Morrissey, 53, was attacked from behind and knocked unconscious whilst walking his dog near his house in Greenwich just three days before Christmas.

He was found by neighbours in a pool of blood, and when he awoke, his dog Tilley was gone.

Now left with no memory of the incident, Mr Morrissey said he is "devastated" with the loss of Tilley and is urgently appealing for help finding the young border terrier.

He said: "I don't know what to do, I have no memory of what happened. It's been horrible. It's like losing a mate.

"You don't know if he's out there or if he's dead. I've been out there every day looking for him but now I just don't know what to do."

Following the attack, which took place on Tom Smith Close in Greenwich at around 9:30pm on Sunday 22 December, Paul went to bed at his neighbours advice, likely concussed.

It was only when he woke up, with no memory of the attack but covered in more blood, that he realised his dog was missing.

The 53-year-old was treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a head wound, and was told he had been kicked in the face, resulting in bleeding and swollen lips.

His only memory is a vague recollection of a girl's voice coming from the bike sheds behind the community centre, which Paul described as completely hidden from anyone passing by.

A social media campaign to find Tilley has been shared by hundreds, but clues to his whereabouts are limited.

News Shopper:

Neighbours reported seeing Tilley growling at a group of people and being chased in a nearby car park, and then later one person reported spotting the dog on Trafalgar Road, Greenwich.

Paul, who has since returned to the hospital for further check ups on his injuries, has been searching for the dog every day since the attack.

Tilley is described as a small, fluffy male dog with cream/black fur. He is microchipped, but was not wearing a collar.
