Bags of dog poo are being hung on bushes and left on footpaths across Bexley.

The ongoing problem has increased in locations, beginning with Danson Park, Burnt Oak Lane, Northumberland Heath and Brampton Road Footbridge.

A Bexley resident who labelled the act as 'disgusting' raised the issue to the News Shopper after receiving a wide response from his query on a Neighbourhood app called Nextdoor.

The ongoing issue was picked up on back in October, by children from Longlands Primary School who created posters acting against dog waste.

News Shopper:

The council previously issued a warning of fines.

A representative for the council said: “We take the issue of dog fouling extremely seriously.

“It is the responsibility of the owner or the person in charge of a dog to clear up any mess.

“It is simply abhorrent to leave dog waste on the ground where others can walk through it or even tied to a fence for someone else to clean away.

“If the nearest dog waste bin is full dog owners should then dispose of the bagged waste in their own general waste bins or in another public litter bin on the highway.

News Shopper:

“Anyone found to be guilty of dog fouling, including leaving dog waste in a bag tied to a fence, will be issued with a fixed penalty notice.”
