David Jones has been Conservative MP for Clwyd West since 2005, and has served as a cabinet minister.

He and his wife Sarah, a former nurse, have two sons. Outside politics, his interests include hill walking and photography, and supporting Liverpool FC.

David was brought up in Wrexham. and after graduating in law he became a trainee solicitor in Ruthin, before becoming a partner in a Bangor legal practice and then established his own office in Llandudno. He led the Vote Leave campaign for the EU referendum in Wales.

Joanne Thomas, aged 61, is the Welsh Labour candidate. A mum of two, she owned a ladies fashion shop in Ruthin and is originally from Cross Hands, near Llanelli.

Her husband Gareth Thomas, MP for Clwyd West between 1997 and 2005.

She has worked as a PA in the private and public sector and strongly believes in equality of opportunity and fairness. She said she is a battler but also a good listener.

She voted to remain in the EU and believes the UK should have a second referendum to determine whether and how we leave the EU.

David Wilkins, the Liberal Democrat candidate, lives with his wife and two young children in Rhos-on-Sea. He is a full-time physics teacher in a local comprehensive school. He has worked on the New Curriculum for Wales and played a part in bringing exciting new opportunities to pupils across the country.

An environmentalist he supports projects to promote sustainability and responsible lifestyles, and prefers to use his bicycle rather than a car.

David believes in the need to build affordable homes and champions the freedom to live.

Elfed Williams is the Plaid Cymru candidate.

He is a director of the CADMHAS mental health charity, and describes himself as a staunch Remainer. He is a director of the Conwy and Denbighshire Mental Health Advocacy Service. He lives in Llanrhaeadr near Ruthin with his family, one dog and five chickens. He said he has lived in the constituency most of his life going to primary school in Aberegele, his first job was on a farm. He believes there are three big issues facing the UK: Brexit, the environment, the NHS.
