Met Police in Teddington are reminding residents about the importance of securing pedal bikes following reports that one was stolen on November 25.

According to police reports, the incident took place between 5pm and 6pm near Causeway Junction and Park Road.

Met Police Teddington released an official statement on social media which read: "Another pedal cycle reported stolen yesterday - between 5pm to 6pm just by Causeway Jct with Park Road.

"Bike again secured with a combination cable lock.

"What's the one thing all these stolen bikes have in common?

"Cable locks are to easily cut by thieves using bolt cutters."

Combination locks are convenient because bike owners do not have to remember to carry a key with them - or worry about losing keys, all they have to do is be able to remember a four-digit code.

Cable locks tend to commonly use a combination locking mechanism but are not recommended because they can easily be accessed by criminals.
