Part of a South Wimbledon pub which has been closed for more than a decade will now be demolished to make way for flats.
A planning application was submitted in April 2018 to build eight apartments on top of the The Marquis of Lorne in Haydons Road.
Those plans were knocked back, but now Merton Council has approved revised plans to build six flats at the site.
The pub's original front and side facade will be retained as part of the approved plans.
A document attached to the application said: "The pub was in a prominent position when viewed from Haydons Park and is probably remembered fondly by local residents.
"By reducing the number of apartments from 8 to 6 it has been possible to ensure that the London Plan space recommendations are complied with."
Opposite the defunct pub is Haydons Road Recreation Ground. This is something the applicant believes future residents could benefit from.
"The proposed development will utilize the existing front and site facade of the pub building," the application said.
"The scale, form and footprint of the building has been designed to keep consistent with the surroundings while also providing character to the site, thus not changing the high street's prominent character.
"The proposed layout provides adequate room sizes, which meets the needs for future occupiers.
