The search for Kingston's Best Bartender is in full swing and finally it's time for the first female nominee.

This week's nomination comes from Dave Morgan, a regular at the Albert Arms in Kingston Hill, who has nominated Kirsty Jones, his favourite barmaid from the pub.

He said: "Kirsty knows her regulars well and works steadily under pressure, which can be considerable in the Albert."

Kirsty, 32, lives in Kingston Hill Road. She has worked full-time at the Albert Arms for the past 18 months, in which time the pub has been completely refurbished.

She said: "I'm the only surviving member of barstaff from before the revamp. It's more of a gastro pub now - it's a very nice place to work. Chatting to the regular customers is my favourite part of the job."

When she is not busy pulling pints, Kirsty is a massive fan of the South African rugby team. She took the evening off work for the World Cup final, but stayed at the Albert Arms to watch the match.

She said: "I was the only South Africa supporter in the pub. I had to keep pretty quiet among all the England fans. At the end of the game everyone shook my hand and bought me drinks."

Kirsty thrives on working in the hectic environment at the Albert Arms. "After all the changes, we've brought in a new clientele as well as the old customers," she said. "It does get busy, but I can definitely hold my own behind the bar."
